The sky is falling down

Whether it's medication or depression or whatever, I feel like everything's about to come crashing down on top of my head.

Today I found it extremely difficult to stay awake.

When I was a child, my mother used to read Ladybird books to me.

The story of 'Chicken Licken' stands out in my memory.

It's how I feel sometimes. It scared me then, it still scares me now.

The unravelling of the knot.

Like dominoes.

We all fall down...

When your day is long...

Feeling decidedly down today. It's the unpredictable nature of depression. There is only so much medication a boy can take. After that it comes down to avoidance. Or mania.

There is no 'deus ex machina', quite simply because there is no deus.

It's down to us as individuals to either participate or give up.

Either option can seem incredibly dull.

So I provide this distraction today to stave off the inevitable...

Feeling safe

Cancellations, delays, maybes; things working, things not.

These all serve to make me feel unsafe. My foundations become polystyrene.

Strangers in a neutral venue are welcomed, listen to, smiled at. Those who enter or may enter my territory are potential threats. Nerves become fragile. My body tenses.

When they arrive, they are treated with respect and courtesy. When they leave, I can breathe again.

Is this natural? Probably (not).

As John Lennon sang 'you can count me out (in)'.
